There are about 60 known varieties (species) of amber. The oldest of them come from Devonian formations (found in Canada) and Carboniferous (Illinois, USA); the youngest, not generally classified as amber, are found in South America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

This time we decided to brag about what we have already managed to successfully push into resin. We have already written about flowers, grasses and lichens. Now some funny things. There was a time when we embedded seeds. 

We are slowly moving on to our flagship pens – magical gardens. We have already embedded almost everything in resin, but the preparation process itself is interesting. The idea for flowers was born when we had already processed seeds, pine cones, pits, shells, 3D prints, wood and many other things. 

We have already mentioned buying blocks and there is no point in returning to this harmful habit. Now a few words about creating resin blocks. Of course, it all starts with gathering materials. Anyone who has caught the bug of creating objects from resin knows that it starts with resin, a few dyes and molds. 

This is quite an enigmatic term. What does wood stabilization actually mean? It is the saturation of natural wood elements with polymer resin. This protects the wood against mechanical damage and moisture. After stabilization, the wood does not change its volume and shape due to changes in ambient humidity and does not crack. 

Once we know what the pen is made of, it is worth mentioning the technological process itself. The amount of work put into producing the pen, the cost of the material and any accessories are the basis for calculating the price. It's easy to imagine it when you have a ready-made, purchased block. It's a bit different when we make these blocks ourselves. We want to show you what it looks like to prepare a custom-made pen from wood and resin.

This is our latest discovery. We are constantly browsing the Internet in search of inspiration and new materials. Synthetic opals have been known since 1964, but they were of very poor quality.
