This time we decided to brag about what we have already managed to successfully push into resin. We have already written about flowers, grasses and lichens. Now some funny things. There was a time when we embedded seeds. There is no shop with specific seeds, so the remains of cherries, sweet cherries or peaches were cleaned, dried and put into resin. The effect was quite good, especially with peach pits – like halves of a brain. Star anise or cloves also looked interesting, although they did not cause a sensation. There was a time when we embedded whole ears of wheat or rye or corn cobs. Just like with flowers, it was our initiative from start to finish and to this day we can still come across a lost spikelet in the workshop. A large group of embedded elements were pine cones. Here, there was a great variety. As usual, we started with spruce, then pine, stone pine, our and Japanese alder, and a huge Australian banksia. The cones were inserted whole lengthwise, crosswise, pieces of cones. All to obtain an interesting and unique effect. In addition to plants, there were also shells embedded whole in resin and then turned, or feathers at the end in clear resin. There were also feathers, cat hair, printed elements such as cat paws or dog bones, and aluminum filings. Any type of filings (not flakes) did not work very well, because during turning they could be torn out of the resin. Recently we focused on stones: there was already water opal and we are planning something with malachite embedded in resin. The problem with stones is that their hardness is different from the hardness of resin and turning is a bit problematic. Of course, there was also amber, but more about that in the next post. As they say, everything to satisfy the customer and at the same time see what else can be done. Creativity is our middle name.
