Synthetic opal fountain pen
Fluoro opal – we decided on this name to emphasize the ability of the pen to glow in UV light. The entire pen was made of artificial greenish yellow opal. This material is made of small silica crystals embedded in resin and, similarly to the real one, the arrangement and density of the silica grains in the matrix creates these opalescent colors. During movement, you can see a delicate opalization in colors from white to reddish. Its most interesting feature is the strong greenish color in UV light. Even natural opals – hyalites, have the ability to fluoresce in ultraviolet light. This fluorescence is usually light green and is attributed to trace amounts of uranium or other activators in the silica structure. It is completely safe for a pen made of artificial opal. For this set, we offer Bock nib.
