We have already mentioned buying blocks and there is no point in returning to this harmful habit. Now a few words about creating resin blocks. Of course, it all starts with gathering materials. Anyone who has caught the bug of creating objects from resin knows that it starts with resin, a few dyes and molds. Later, the workshop expands to include another color, resin with gold, blue, pink glitter and, of course, glitter or gold flakes. Ultimately, it goes like an avalanche and it's better if Marcin doesn't look around the workshop. In addition to resin, we obviously needed block molds. Initially, we used purchased ones, and Marcin made others. Cups for pouring resin, mixing containers, sticks, containers for glitter, dust, flakes, etc. - become necessary equipment. The production of blocks is growing like the accumulation of wood. With a ready set of materials, Kamila enters the stage with her artistic soul and love for colors. Like a true witch, she mixes containers, adds dyes and various dusts to create a work of art. Preparing a resin or several resins with a hardener and pouring them to obtain the desired or completely random effect is just the beginning. After mixing, the resin has a mass of air bubbles and, similarly to the stabilization of wood, we use a chamber, only this time with positive pressure. The pressure compresses the air in the resin and during this time it polymerizes. The resin and hardener thicken quickly, so it is good to carry out the entire process of pouring the blocks and placing them into the chamber efficiently and without tripping. The resin polymerizes for a few hours and theoretically we have ready blocks. But only theoretically......... Such a block requires at least a few days to completely harden. Only after this time, turning and polishing give us satisfactory results. Therefore, preparing an ordinary resin block involves not only preparing the materials, but also about a week of work to create a block ready for preparing the pen.
