This is quite an enigmatic term. What does wood stabilization actually mean? It is the saturation of natural wood elements with polymer resin. This protects the wood against mechanical damage and moisture. After stabilization, the wood does not change its volume and shape due to changes in ambient humidity and does not crack. It is worth remembering that stabilized wood still has the appearance and structure of wood and can be processed like wood. The process itself looks something like this: we immerse selected wooden blocks in resin. Then, in a vacuum container, the resin penetrates deeply into the wood structure, where the vacuum eliminates air from the block and allows the resin to penetrate. Now you probably know why the blocks must be very dry? Where water remains, the resin has no chance to penetrate. This infiltration process can take up to several dozen hours, and then there is time for the resin to polymerize. This requires high temperature and time. This stage is baking the blocks. This means that the preparation of stabilized wood takes us up to several days. As an interesting fact, we can say that the stabilization resin does not have to be transparent and this is the secret of permanent and effective coloring of blocks. Then the dye will penetrate like the stabilizing resin and will polymerize in the wood together with the resin. Therefore, the dye will be durable, resistant to water or other dyes, and will not fade or change over time. Obtaining several colors or such an unusual interpenetration of colors in wood as a result of stabilization is Kamila's unique achievement and our little secret. You can be sure that the wood prepared in this way is unique, beautiful and perfectly protected, and it takes a lot of work. This is rewarded by every praise from our customers.
