Drewnem Pisane (Wood Written) - Behind the scene - How a fountain pen is made. Part 14 Resin – carbon fiber 0

Our offer also includes pens made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber was first developed in the early 1900s, but it was not until the 1970s that it began to be used commercially. Since then, it has become a popular material for a variety of applications. Carbon fiber is strong and light, which makes it ideal for use in the aerospace, boatbuilding and automotive industries, as well as in the production of bicycles, skis, footwear, technical clothing and golf clubs. There are two main types of carbon fiber: towed and prepeg. Towed carbon fiber consists of thin strands of carbon that are woven together to create a fabric-like material. Prepeg carbon fiber is made by combining powdered carbon with a polymer resin. The resulting material is then heated and extruded into thin strands. Prepeg carbon fiber is stronger than tow fiber and has greater resistance to fatigue. We had carbon fiber enriched with flakes of, among others, copper or silver. This is how our pens were also made from a very unique material.
