Exotic wood is very interesting and specific, but we also do not despise our species. Initially, maple, chestnut, ash and oak were the main materials for our pens. Today, we also like to use them, but we try to make them more attractive by staining them (we will write a little about this) or we use wood overgrown with mycelium or eaten away by insects. As a result, such a surface is more interesting and unique. Importantly, our wood is usually very wet when we buy it, so it dries slowly for about a year or two to prevent it from cracking. Among our species, we most often look for interesting pieces of fruit trees, mulberry, chestnut, walnut or alder. The last one has beautiful iridescent wood. Therefore, in order to make a fountain pen, we first have to wait until the wood is dry, then we dry it (in warm) and only then we make a pen from it. There is still a long way from plans to implementation, but that will be covered in the next episode. Collecting material for the future is part of our work. We are almost constantly looking for pieces of wood that will be suitable for pens, ballpoint pens or perhaps for gluing in the future.
